While my interest in railways dates from my school days i've never been to a gala often held by preserved lines, until this weekend when i attended the Severn Valley Railway's Diesel Gala. And a great day it was indeed, i was able to travel behind 2 locomotives i've never really been much of a fan of... though i am warming to them (a class 52 Western and a class 55 Deltic) and two i've always loved (a class 40 Whistler and a class 20 Chopper!) It was great travelling along with my head out of the window listening to the diesel roar (and no doubt inhaling enough fumes to shorten my life by a few years). The best part was returning to Kidderminster behind the class 20, the engine roar in the tunnel was sheer poetry. Here you can see the photos i took.
