Bridgnorth
Bridgnorth is a lovely town in Shropshire, not only the HQ of the Severn Valley Railway but also home to a funicular railway that links the low and high parts of the town. Neither can be seen in this photograph however!

Upgrading the towpath
The canal near my house is having its towpath upgraded (which is a good thing as it becomes a quagmire after a bit of rain).

The Pacifics got the glory but the railways were kept going in the steam age by hard working 0-6-0s like this 4F seen here at the Severn Valley Railway.

York city wall
You can walk along the old battlements along part of the surviving city wall of York.
